Peruvian Cultural Voyage March 2012
Join host Maya Schoop-Rutten for an unforgettable 2 weeks exploring the rich cultural heritage of Peru.
Land of lost cities and ancient ruins, Peru offers an immense range of adventures, from the Amazon rainforest to the Andean peaks.
Our goal is to show you a true cultural exchange, we will have a local guide help us find the hidden gems of true Peru with all it’s wonderful customs and amazing food with an inclination to escape the tourist crowds, our tricks are endless…
Some of the most important sites we will visit are: Exploring Lima for a couple days, the Miraflores neighborhood for eating the classic Peruvian feast, walking the ruins of numerous civilizations significant temples at Pachacamac. Getting a birds eye view (small aircraft) of the Nazca lines, the world’s greatest archaeological mysteries, 300 geometric figures concentrated in a small area.
Walking Cusco admiring the walls built by the Incas, visiting the Choco Museo learning the process of cultivating cocoa seeds to making confections. (Cacao plantations included).
Hiking Machu Picchu, the gorgeous site surrounded by towering water falls, cliffs, cloud forest and two rushing rivers. This area is challenging because of its popularity, an early morning hike will be an absolute must to truly enjoy and feel this incredible ancient town.
In Lake Titicaca , we will meet the Campesinas (peasant women) in bowler hats and folkloric clothing. Lake Titicaca is known for its shimmering navy blue color, its sparkling islands, the Andean belief is that the lake gave birth to the sun…
We will be learning about the hundreds local varieties of potatoes that are transformed in am amazing array of incredible dishes, chowders, ceviches, giant shrimp from the Amazon, fresh fruits, local beer made out of purple corn as well as regular local beer.
Chocolate Maya will only take a limited amount of people on this voyage, a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 is our preference.
Target dates for this trip are between March and April 2012.
Estimate price (land cost) between $3000 and $3500 for 15 days depending on double occupancy, price includes nice accommodation, local guide,most transportation, food, museum and park entrances.
Airfare not included.
